My 9/23/16 letter to Dell, Inc. CEO Michael Dell reads, in part, as follows: 1. On 7/25/16, three days after un-boxing and connecting up my new Dell XPS 8900 computer the Motherboard crashed. 2. If Dell advertises a sale on a laptop for the start of the school year, I kind of expect that when I order it online, I will get the product at the time the confirmation email said I will. Well, not only did I not get it at the specified date, I didn't get it at all. When I called to inquire, they apparently ran out and won't get anymore. I guess posting here is cheaper than therapy. My story is that my computer stopped charging for the 2nd time since I bought it in Oct 2015. The first time after going through a very long process, I was sent a new charger / power cord. About 6 months later the charging problem resurfaced and here's where things go sideways. I bought a Dell Inspiron 5552 laptop in October 2015. It failed in December 2015. I sent it back to Dell and they fixed it. My laptop failed once again in July 2016. I sent it back to Dell again. This time it took them 2 weeks to fix it. The laptop is not completely right. Its fan intermittently runs for hours after I power it down and it is hard to boot after this. I expect it to fail again. Dell keeps on sending advertising material to a named person at my company, but when I call them (customer service) and tell them no such person here and to please stop sending the material I get a promise that is will no longer be sent. I'm sorry to see that so many other people are having the same sort of frustration with Dell that I have been having. I did find a great blog with some suggestions about what you can do to actually get Dell's attention: dellscomplaint.blogspot.com. I am done with Dell computers. I really like their keyboards but their customer service has become abysmal. I cannot get service on a laptop under an extended service agreement because they have my part on back order for two months now. Tried 3 times to talk to someone in customer service about a faulty toner cartridge..after insisting I speak with a manager, I was cut off. 2.5 hours of phone time and the brand new item still does not work. Since I purchased directly from Dell I assumed matters would be easy. In July 2016 I bought a new Dell Desktop Inspiron 7000 with "premium tech support" After my personal computer guy installed the machine for me everything was working. Next day I went to Outlook and got a POP UP that said the program was not supported by the product. I called Dell. I just want to let you know that my computer as, of now is working fine. But I have to bring this to your attention. When you file a complaint against Dell they will get the computer back right. Then, later on in the future they will start messing with it again. I have reminded them over and over about this.
