I placed an order with Dell and was promised delivery within a week. The computer was never shipped.

In fact, it was never in stock.

Bad enough, but my need was urgent and I was strung along for the better part of two weeks by customer service reps who claimed the desktop computer I ordered was in the final stages of production and would ship soon.

I have a long personal and business history with Dell and have purchased a significant number of computers from the company during the last 15 years. My early experiences were very positive, but those who purchase a Dell computer today can expect the worst in customer treatment.

Clearly you had a frustrating experience and while I sympathize, I feel the need to say that I bought a new Dell desktop in May and a laptop in July and they were delivered quickly with no problems. :)
